## About this wine

ViŁas Mora was founded in 2020 by Krešo Petreković, Niko Đukan, and local vigneron Neno Marinov in Primošten, Dalmatia. The project was created to preserve ancient coastal winemaking traditions and protect smallholder vineyards along the Adriatic Sea. The cuvée name 'Andreis' refers to Fort Andreis, a 16th-century coastal fortress built to defend against Ottoman forces. The vines average 25 years of age and grow in single-bush goblet training within traditional dry-stone enclosures on limestone terraces overlooking the sea.

## Interesting facts

- Named after Fort Andreis, a 16th-century stone fortress built near Primošten to defend against Ottoman forces.
- Vines are grown inside dry-stone walled enclosures known as 'clos' to shield them from Adriatic sea winds.
- Reinterprets traditional Babić by harvesting early and using short macerations to produce a fresh, low-tannin red.

## Food pairing

This vibrant red features bright acidity, low tannins, and a signature saline character from coastal vineyards. Its moderate alcohol and fresh fruit make it versatile with seafood like octopus or mackerel, while its core acidity effortlessly balances rich meats, tomato sauces, and dry-cured ham without overwhelming the palate.

## Wine making process

Grapes are organically farmed and harvested entirely by hand in small crates. In the cellar, Babić grapes undergo native yeast fermentation in open-top vessels without temperature control and a brief skin maceration of 4–5 days. Plavac Mali is either directly pressed or macerated for a single afternoon. The blend undergoes aging for 6 to 12 months, with 30–40% maturing in used 500-liter neutral oak barrels and the remaining portion in neutral polyethylene and fiberglass tanks. The finished wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal added sulfites.
