## About this wine

Aria by Casa al Vento is a 2021 Chianti Classico DOCG from Gaiole in Chianti, Tuscany, made from 100% Sangiovese. The wine's name holds a dual meaning, referencing the air of the region and serving as a tribute to Ria, the mother of one of the estate's proprietors. The Gioffreda family, who own Casa al Vento, are committed to organic farming practices and have spent over two decades restoring the estate, which is a medieval village. They aim to produce high-quality wines that reflect the authentic character of the Sangiovese grape and the unique terroir of their vineyards, which are situated at 450 meters altitude on soils rich in marl, limestone, and red clay.

## Interesting facts

- The name 'Aria' honors both the natural air of the hills and Ria, the mother of a proprietor.
- The vineyards are planted on vines that are over 20 years old.
- The estate is a restored medieval village.
- The wine is Kosher Certified starting from the 2021 harvest.

## Food pairing

The wine's crisp acidity and high tannins are well-suited to cut through the richness of red meats and fatty sauces, while its earthy and fruity notes complement traditional Tuscan dishes. The grainy tannins find a good match with the protein in meats.

## Wine making process

The Sangiovese grapes for Aria are sourced from 5 hectares of vineyards planted in 2003, situated at 450 meters altitude with marl, limestone, and red clay soils. The Gioffreda family employs organic farming practices, with hand-harvesting taking place in late September or early October. Vinification involves maceration on the skins for 25-30 days with controlled temperatures. Fermentation occurs in both stainless steel tanks and selected oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barriques, then rests for a minimum of six months in bottle before release.
