## About this wine

Terreno ASofia Chianti Classico is a Gran Selezione from Tuscany, produced by Terreno, a family-owned estate committed to organic and artisanal winemaking. The wine is named after Sofia Ruhne, the daughter of the owners, and is sourced from the estate's oldest vineyard, planted in the early 1980s. Located in UGA Greve, the vineyard's Macigno del Chianti soil, a well-drained sandstone, contributes to the wine's concentrated character. ASofia is crafted only in exceptional vintages and released in limited editions, aiming to express the nuanced elegance of Chianti Classico.

## Food pairing

The wine's high acidity and firm tannins are well-suited to cut through the richness of red meats and fatty dishes, while the savory notes complement earthy ingredients like mushrooms and herbs. The wine's fruit profile can also bridge with fruit-based sauces.

## Wine making process

The Terreno ASofia Chianti Classico is produced using 100% Sangiovese grapes. Harvested by hand in small trays, the grapes undergo fermentation and skin contact in open 10hl vessels, utilizing natural yeasts and manual remontage for optimal extraction. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 30 months in large oak casks (30hl) and then rests for at least one year in bottle before release. Terreno employs organic farming practices, emphasizing a philosophy of respecting nature and preserving the ecosystem.
