## About this wine

Cocito Barbaresco Riserva Baluchin 2015 is a 100% Nebbiolo from the Barbaresco DOCG in Piedmont, Italy. The wine originates from the Baluchin vineyard in Neive, situated at a high altitude (365-396 meters) on a steep slope (45-55%). The vineyard's name, 'Baluchin,' translates to 'star' in the local dialect. The wine is a result of a partnership between Ezio Cocito, whose family has an agricultural background and who replanted Moscato vines to Nebbiolo, and Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta, who oversees vineyard management and winemaking. The production emphasizes precision and elegance, with a commitment to preserving the wine's integrity through minimal intervention.

## Wine making process

The grapes for Cocito Barbaresco Riserva Baluchin 2015 are harvested from early October. Fermentation takes place over 7-8 days in horizontal fermenters at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation occurs in oak. The wine is then aged for 20-22 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new. Post-barrel aging, it spends approximately three months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. The wine is not fined or filtered. Barbaresco Riserva regulations mandate a minimum of 50 months of aging from January 1st of the year following harvest, including at least 9 months in barrel.
