## About this wine

Manzone Barolo Castelletto is a 100% Nebbiolo wine from the Castelletto vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont, Italy. Produced by Azienda Agricola Giovanni Manzone, a family-run estate with a history dating back to 1925, the wine reflects the unique terroir of its high-altitude, steep hillside vineyard. The estate is committed to traditional winemaking practices and sustainable viticulture.

## Interesting facts

- Vineyards are situated at altitudes of 350-500 meters.
- Grapes are hand-harvested in mid to late October.
- Winery is part of 'The Green Experience' certification.
- Uses neutral oak casks (botte) for aging.

## Food pairing

The wine's full body and robust tannins are well-suited to rich, protein-heavy dishes, where they can soften and integrate. The earthy notes in the wine find harmony with mushrooms and game, while the bright acidity can cut through the richness of sauces and meats.

## Wine making process

The Manzone Barolo Castelletto is produced using traditional methods. Grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in steel tanks, followed by a 30-40 day maceration with soft pumping over. The wine is then aged for approximately 30 months in neutral oak casks (botte), with a short period in concrete tanks before bottling. The winery employs sustainable and organic farming practices, aiming for low yields and minimal intervention, including no clarification or filtration and minimal sulfur dioxide additions.
