## About this wine

The Figli Luigi Oddero Barolo 2020 is a 100% Nebbiolo wine from the Barolo DOCG appellation in Piedmont, Italy. The Oddero family has a long history in winemaking, with the current estate founded in 2006. They focus on traditional Nebbiolo production, expressing the character of their vineyards located in La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba, and Castiglione Falletto. These sites feature high hillside soils from the Helvetian and Tortonian geologic eras. The estate employs certified organic vineyard practices.

## Interesting facts

- Vineyards are certified organic.
- Oldest vines are up to 60 years old.
- Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts.
- Aging occurs in large Slavonian oak barrels.

## Food pairing

The wine's full body and significant tannins are well-suited to rich protein dishes, where they can soften and integrate with the meat's fat and protein. Its aromatic complexity, with notes of spice and fruit, can complement earthy flavors in mushrooms and root vegetables, while its structure can stand up to robust sauces.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process begins with hand-harvested and meticulously sorted Nebbiolo grapes. Fermentation with maceration lasts 12 to 15 days, employing indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation follows between the subsequent fall and spring. The wine undergoes aging in stainless steel vats and then in medium to large oak barrels for 24 months, with some indications of longer aging in Slavonian and Austrian oak. Bottle aging for at least 12 months precedes release.
