## About this wine

Barolo Monfalletto DOCG 2020 is produced by Cordero di Montezemolo, a family winery with a lineage dating back to 1340. The wine originates from the Monfalletto vineyard, a 28-hectare single estate cru located in La Morra, Piedmont. This vineyard benefits from calcareous clay soils and an altitude of 250-300 meters, with ideal southeastern and southwestern exposures. The estate's history is symbolized by a Cedar of Lebanon planted in 1856. The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, with vines aged between 15 and 50 years. The Monfalletto is considered the flagship wine of the estate, representing its heritage and essence.

## Interesting facts

- Vineyard vines are aged between 15 to 50 years.
- The Monfalletto vineyard is a single estate cru of 28 hectares.
- The family has managed the estate for 19 generations.
- An ancient Cedar of Lebanon symbolizes the estate's legacy.

## Food pairing

The wine's firm tannins and full body are well-suited to rich, protein-heavy dishes, where the tannins can bind with the meat's proteins, softening the wine and tenderizing the food. The wine's complexity and earthy notes complement dishes featuring game, mushrooms, and truffles.

## Wine making process

The Barolo Monfalletto 2020 is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Viticulture follows certified organic practices, with manual harvesting and careful grape selection, often in multiple passes. Maceration in stainless steel tanks lasts 4-5 days, followed by fermentation for 10-12 days. A notable technique is the bleeding of musts to achieve greater concentration. The wine then undergoes aging for 18 to 24 months in French and Slovenian oak barrels of varying sizes, followed by bottle aging. Approximately 54,000 bottles were produced.
