Pio Cesare, a historic family estate founded in 1881, has a legacy of producing high-quality, limited-production wines and was an early exporter of Barolo. The Mosconi vineyard's unique terroir is a key factor in the wine's distinct character.

## Food pairing

The wine's full body and dense tannins are well-suited to rich protein dishes, where they can soften and integrate with the meat's fat and protein. The wine's complexity and potential for earthy notes can complement dishes featuring game, mushrooms, and truffles.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process for Barolo Mosconi involves hand-harvesting selected Nebbiolo grapes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at high temperatures with a 30-day maceration period. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 30 months, utilizing a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and French oak barriques. Yields are kept below 50 tons per hectare.
