## About this wine

AreWine LLC is a boutique family micro-winery founded in 2019 in Areni village, located within the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia. Created by winemakers Knarik Petrosyan and Guillem Achermann, the winery focuses exclusively on endemic Armenian grape varieties grown on high-altitude mountain slopes surrounding the Arpa River Basin at 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level. Operating with an extremely limited production of roughly 6,000 bottles per year, the estate emphasizes historical viticultural traditions and zero-intervention natural winemaking.

## Interesting facts

- Vines are treated with natural teas made from nettle, mint, and horsetail rather than synthetic chemicals.
- Fermentation and aging take place in traditional Armenian terracotta clay vessels called karas.
- AreWine produces an extremely limited total of around 6,000 bottles per year across its entire portfolio.

## Food pairing

The subtle textural skin contact, soft tannins, and vibrant acidity of this orange wine make it exceptionally versatile. It cuts through oily fish and roasted poultry while echoing the savory notes of herbs, spices, and aged goat cheeses without overwhelming lighter ingredients.

## Wine making process

Grapes are organically farmed on bushvines, using natural herbal infusions such as nettle, mint, and horsetail for vineyard care. In the winery, spontaneous fermentation is driven entirely by wild, indigenous yeasts present on the grape skins. The grapes receive a delicate pressing to avoid heavy extraction before undergoing skin maceration and aging in traditional terracotta clay vessels (karas) and stainless steel tanks. The finished wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulfites.
