## About this wine

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG from Tenuta Caparzo, a historic producer established in 1970. The estate, now led by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, cultivates Sangiovese across 90 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the Montalcino region, leveraging diverse microclimates and soils. Caparzo is recognized for its commitment to heritage and environmental stewardship, including initiatives towards carbon neutrality.

## Interesting facts

- Caparzo released its first Brunello in 1970, a time when only 13 wineries existed in Montalcino.
- The estate spans 200 hectares, with 90 dedicated to vineyards across diverse Montalcino zones.
- Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini champions sustainability, aiming for zero carbon emissions.
- Vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 250 to over 300 meters.

## Food pairing

The wine's structure, with its firm tannins and balanced acidity, makes it an excellent companion for rich, protein-heavy dishes. The tannins bind with the proteins in meat, softening the wine and enhancing the savory flavors of the food. Its complex aromas and flavors can stand up to and complement robust sauces and game.

## Wine making process

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is produced from 100% Sangiovese. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for a minimum of two years in large Slavonian or Allier oak barrels, with an additional four months in bottle before release. Harvests for red grapes are completed by October.
