## About this wine

Gardet Brut Reserve is a Non-Vintage Champagne from the Champagne AOC, France. The wine is produced by Champagne Gardet, a house established in 1895 and currently owned by the Prieux family. Grapes are sourced from Premier Cru vineyards located in the Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. The wine's distinctiveness stems from its blend of Premier Cru fruit, significant time spent aging on lees, and the use of reserve wines that have been matured in large, old oak foudres.

## Interesting facts

- Reserve wines are aged in large oak 'Foudres' (25-40 hl) that are 50-100 years old.
- The wine undergoes extended bottle aging on lees for 6 to 8 years.
- Gardet Brut Reserve is listed as Vegan and Vegetarian friendly.

## Food pairing

The wine's balanced acidity and medium-plus body complement rich dishes, cutting through fattiness and enhancing savory flavors. Its complexity and subtle fruit notes can stand up to and harmonize with a variety of proteins and sauces.

## Wine making process

Gardet Brut Reserve is produced using a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. A significant portion, around 25%, of the blend consists of reserve wines that have been aged for at least one year in large, old oak foudres. The wine then undergoes extended aging on its lees for 6 to 8 years, with a minimum of 3 months post-disgorgement before it is released. The dosage is approximately 6 g/L.
