## About this wine

Azienda Agricola Burzi was founded in 2012 by siblings Alberto and Caterina Burzi after inheriting historic family vineyards in La Morra, within the heart of the Barolo zone. Although the grapes for this bottling grow within official Barolo boundaries, the estate chooses to declassify fruit from younger vines under 15 years old into a Langhe Nebbiolo. This approach offers a fresh, approachable expression of Nebbiolo while maintaining authentic Barolo pedigree.

## Interesting facts

- Grapes are grown in La Morra's Barolo boundary but declassified from young vines under 15 years old.
- The cuvée name Runcaja is the local dialect term for the historic Roncaglia vineyard.
- Founded in 2012 by siblings Alberto and Caterina Burzi using inherited family vines.

## Food pairing

Nebbiolo's lively acidity and fine-grained tannins slice through rich fats in meats and pasta sauces, while complementing savory herbal notes without overwhelming delicate poultry or veal dishes.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested grapes undergo a 6-day maceration on skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with continuous pump-overs. Fermentation is kept under 29°C to preserve aromatic purity. The wine matures for 6 months in 500-liter oak tonneaux with periodic fine lees stirring to soften tannin structure, followed by a minimum of 3 months in neutral concrete tanks prior to bottling.
