## About this wine

Campomaggio Chianti Classico 2019 is a Sangiovese-based wine from the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation in Tuscany, Italy. It is produced by Castellani Spa, a family-run winery with a history dating back to 1903. The wine originates from the Tenuta di Campomaggio estate, acquired by Castellani Spa in 1990, located near Radda in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. The estate itself has historical roots dating back to the early 18th century. The 2019 vintage is noted for its fresh and balanced character, attributed to favorable weather conditions and a late harvest.

## Interesting facts

- The Tenuta di Campomaggio estate has a history stretching back to the early 1700s.
- Castellani Spa has been exporting wines internationally since 1903.
- Vines for this wine are approximately 20 years old.
- The vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 280 to 480 meters.

## Food pairing

The wine's vibrant acidity and medium body complement rich, protein-heavy dishes by cutting through fat and cleansing the palate. Tannins in the Sangiovese harmonize with the proteins in red meats, creating a balanced and satisfying pairing. Herbal notes in the wine can echo herbs used in cooking, creating flavor bridges.

## Wine making process

The Campomaggio Chianti Classico 2019 is produced from Sangiovese grapes grown on vines approximately 20 years old. The grapes are cultivated in soil composed of chalk, clay, and stones at altitudes between 280 and 480 meters. Winemaking involves fermenting the grapes, with 70% of the resulting wine aged in stainless steel tanks and 30% aged in large oak barrels for six to eight months. The blend is then returned to stainless steel tanks for about 12 months before an additional three to six months of bottle aging prior to release.
