## About this wine

Can Tano is a single-varietal Callet produced by Vinyes i Vins Ca Sa Padrina in Mallorca. The name Can Tano is the ancestral nickname of the Suñer family, honoring their 150-year-old family cellar in Sencelles. Founded in 1999 by Andreu Suñer to preserve indigenous Balearic grapes, the estate is now run by his sons, Guillem and Andreu, who transitioned the vineyards to organic farming in 2015. The striking label features a retro illustration by Elisenda Aguilera combined with a hand-drawn vineyard map by Maria Antònia Sampol.

## Interesting facts

- Can Tano is the ancestral nickname of the Suñer family, who have made wine in Sencelles for over 150 years.
- The label features a 1975 retro illustration found on dusty bottles in the family cellar, combined with a hand-drawn vineyard map.
- With only 2,000 bottles produced annually, this single-varietal Callet is an extremely rare, micro-allocated gem.

## Food pairing

This light-bodied, high-acid red acts like a classic bistro wine. Its vibrant acidity and soft, low tannins make it exceptionally versatile with lighter meats, roasted vegetables, and traditional Mallorcan tapas. It cuts through the richness of cured meats like sobrasada without overwhelming the palate.

## Wine making process

Crafted from 30-year-old Callet vines grown on iron-rich Call Vermell clay-limestone soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently destemmed. Vinification involves semi-carbonic fermentation to enhance vibrant fruitiness and ensure soft tannin extraction. Following maceration, the wine is softly pressed and aged for 8 months in used 500-liter French oak barrels to preserve the delicate, transparent character of the grape, with minimal sulfite additions.
