## About this wine

The Weszeli Caractère Grüner Veltliner 2022 is a white wine from the Kamptal DAC region of Austria, made from 100% Grüner Veltliner. The wine's character is shaped by grapes sourced from three distinct vineyard sites in northern Kamptal: Steinhaus, Steinberg, and Steinmassl, each with unique subsoils including gneiss, mica slate, and shell limestone. The Steinhaus vineyard features vines planted in 1959. Weingut Weszeli, with a history dating back to 1679, is committed to biodynamic viticulture, holding Demeter certification since the 2021 vintage. Winemaker Davis Weszeli focuses on the vineyard as the core of his work, aiming to produce pure and honest wines that reflect the terroir and vintage.

## Food pairing

The wine's vibrant acidity and subtle herbal notes make it a versatile partner for a range of dishes. Its structure can stand up to richer flavors, while its freshness cuts through fattiness, creating a balanced and enjoyable dining experience.

## Wine making process

The Caractère Grüner Veltliner undergoes a vinification process that includes both partial skin contact for some of the grapes and slow pressing, including stems, for the remainder. Fermentation is carried out spontaneously using wild yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for eight months on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled without fining. Grapes are hand-harvested.
