## About this wine

Domaine Alex Moreau, formerly part of the legendary Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils, represents a benchmark of Chassagne-Montrachet. Following the division of the family estate, Alex Moreau took full control of this portion starting with the 2021 vintage. The Moreau family has been farming these historic soils since 1809. This village-level cuvée is Alex's pride, blending fruit from nine distinct parcels across the appellation. By combining vineyards adjacent to Premier Crus on both the northern Puligny-bordering side and the southern side, this wine captures the complete, multi-faceted terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet in a single bottle.

## Interesting facts

- The Moreau family has been cultivating vines in the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet appellation since 1809.
- This village cuvée is a masterclass in blending, sourced from nine distinct parcels spanning both the northern and southern limits of the AOC.
- Following a family estate split in 2021, Alex Moreau's vineyard holdings were reduced by half, making these bottles highly allocated.

## Food pairing

This classic white Burgundy thrives alongside dishes that match its medium-to-full body and vibrant acidity. The wine's natural tension cuts through rich, creamy sauces and buttery textures, while its subtle oak integration and hazelnut undertones beautifully complement roasted poultry, sweet shellfish, and earthy wild mushrooms.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process at Domaine Alex Moreau emphasizes low-intervention and traditional methods. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo rigorous sorting before a gentle, whole-bunch pressing. Fermentation occurs naturally in French oak barrels using only indigenous yeasts, lasting approximately three weeks. The wine is aged for 14 to 15 months on its fine lees in French oak barrels (sourced primarily from François Frères, with 10% to 30% new oak depending on the parcel) with minimal lees stirring. It is then transferred to stainless steel tanks for two months to settle and clarify naturally. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, sealed with high-quality corks to ensure pristine aging.
