## About this wine

Chez Georgette is a collaborative cuvée created by winemakers Claire Freist and Edoardo Veltroni under their natural micro-négociant label, Les Vins Bariolés. Founded in Chalus, Auvergne, following severe harvest losses in their home region, the pair partnered with organic growers in the Mâconnais to supplement their estate fruit. This bottling blends Burgundian Chardonnay from clay-limestone soils with estate-grown Chardonnay Muscaté cultivated on high-altitude volcanic basalt soils in Auvergne, resulting in a unique expression of dual terroirs.

## Interesting facts

- Chardonnay Muscaté is a rare natural clone of Chardonnay known for its distinct aromatic Muscat-like perfume.
- The wine combines grapes grown on ancient Burgundian limestone with high-elevation volcanic basalt scree from Auvergne.
- Winemakers Claire and Edoardo met while working at prestigious domaines in Burgundy before founding their project in 2022.

## Food pairing

The bright acidity and mineral backbone slice through rich poultry fat and creamy sauces, while the exotic floral aromatics complement aromatic herbs, goat cheeses, and sweet shellfish.

## Wine making process

The grapes are hand-harvested in small crates to preserve berry integrity. In the cellar, whole clusters undergo direct pressing without destemming. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using indigenous yeasts with no enological inputs or temperature manipulation. The wine is aged for 8 months in 350-liter neutral oak barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, with only a minimal sulfur dose of 1g at bottling.
