## About this wine

Podere Pruneto is an authentic, small-scale estate located in the high-altitude hills of Radda in Chianti. Acquired by Giuseppe Lanza in the late 1960s, the estate was developed into a winemaking property by his son Riccardo Lanza starting in the 1970s. Surrounded by dense natural woodlands, the vineyards sit on galestro and alberese soils at elevations up to 550 meters. Inspired by neighbor Sergio Manetti of Montevertine, Riccardo maintained a commitment to low-intervention, traditional winemaking without modern shortcuts.

## Interesting facts

- Riccardo Lanza was inspired to adopt traditional low-intervention methods by legendary Montevertine founder Sergio Manetti.
- The estate vineyards sit at high altitudes up to 550 meters and are surrounded by 75% natural forest.
- Fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts in un-temperature-controlled concrete tanks.

## Food pairing

The signature high acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins of Radda Sangiovese cut effortlessly through rich fats and proteins in red meats and aged cheeses. The wine's herbal and earthy complexity complements traditional Tuscan herbs, tomato-based sauces, and slow-braised wild game.

## Wine making process

The estate follows certified organic viticulture with entirely manual vineyard operations. Grapes are hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts in traditional enamel-lined concrete tanks without artificial temperature control. Maceration lasts approximately 20 days with frequent pumping-over. The wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in large, neutral 30-hectoliter oak casks (botti grandi), followed by bottle refinement. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur addition.
