## About this wine

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sillano 2019 is a 100% Sangiovese wine from Terreno Società Agricola Srl, produced in the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation. It originates from the single Sillano vineyard, located at over 500 meters above sea level in the UGA Montefioralle, west of the Greve river. The vineyard's east-facing exposure and Pietraforte soil, characterized by limestone pebbles, contribute to the wine's unique structure and finesse. Terreno Società Agricola Srl is dedicated to organic farming and expressing terroir, with a focus on sustainability. The 2019 vintage is noted for its exceptional quality, with balanced conditions leading to elegant and complex wines.

## Interesting facts

- Sillano vineyard sits above 500 meters, making it Terreno's highest vineyard.
- The soil is Pietraforte, rich in limestone pebbles, offering hardness and erosion resistance.
- The 2019 vintage is hailed as one of the top three of the millennium.
- Production is extremely limited, with only 4,000 bottles and 300 magnums.

## Food pairing

The wine's medium+ to high acidity cuts through the richness of fatty meats and sauces, while its medium+ to high tannins bind with proteins, softening the wine and cleansing the palate. Herbal notes in the wine can complement dishes seasoned with similar aromatics.

## Wine making process

Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sillano 2019 is produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes. The harvest is done by hand in small crates. Fermentation takes place in open 10hl vessels using natural yeasts, with manual remontage for skin contact. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes 18 months of aging in large oak casks (12 and 24hl). It is then aged for at least 1 year in bottle before release. The producer, Terreno Società Agricola Srl, practices certified organic farming.
