## About this wine

Fattoria Poggerino is a family-run estate located in Radda in Chianti, one of the most prestigious sub-zones of the Chianti Classico region. Managed by Piero Lanza, the estate is renowned for its organic farming practices and a pure, terroir-driven approach to Sangiovese. The 'Uovo' (meaning egg) is a unique expression of the estate's high-altitude vineyards, showcasing the grape's vibrant acidity and mineral core without the influence of oak.

## Interesting facts

- Aged entirely in Nomblot concrete eggs, which allow micro-oxygenation without imparting any oak flavors.
- Extremely limited production, with only about 6,000 bottles produced annually.
- Fattoria Poggerino has been certified organic since 1994, practicing sustainable viticulture.

## Food pairing

The high acidity and firm tannins of this Sangiovese make it an exceptional partner for rich, fatty meats and tomato-based dishes. The concrete egg aging preserves a bright, mineral-driven fruit profile that cuts through the richness of dishes like wild boar ragù or grilled lamb, while the wine's savory undertones complement earthy mushroom and herb-infused preparations.

## Wine making process

This 100% Sangiovese cuvée undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine is transferred to 6.5-hectoliter Nomblot ovoid concrete eggs ('uovo') where it ages for 12 months. The egg shape creates a continuous, natural convection current that keeps the lees in suspension, adding texture and complexity while preserving the bright primary fruit and mineral characteristics of the Sangiovese grape.
