## About this wine

Finca La Despeinada was established in 2016 in Terra Alta, Catalunya by Alex and Petra. The estate name, meaning 'The Disheveled', reflects the fierce Mediterranean winds blowing across their high-elevation vineyards in Bot. Sourced from old vines planted on fossil-rich sand soils known as panal, the property is farmed organically using regenerative permaculture principles.

## Interesting facts

- The estate name means 'The Disheveled', inspired by fierce Mediterranean winds.
- Winemakers Alex and Petra lived in a camper van while building their eco-home.
- Vineyard soils consist of 'panal', a compacted sand rich in ancient marine fossils.

## Food pairing

Vibrant acidity and marine salinity enhance delicate seafood and cut through rich goat cheese while complementing fresh herbs and garlic.

## Wine making process

The 2023 vintage combines Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo. Garnacha Blanca undergoes two days of skin maceration before pressing, after which whole-cluster Macabeo is infused into the juice. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts in buried clay amphorae. The wine is bottled gravity-fed by hand without added sulfites, fining, or filtration.
