## About this wine

Clos de Somméré is one of southern Burgundy's most exciting new projects, officially launching with the 2023 vintage. It represents a unique partnership between the local Santé family—who have farmed in La Roche-Vineuse for five generations since 1848—and cousins Régis Tuccinardi and Sylvain Grosshans, who established themselves as quality-focused micro-négociants in Marseille. Now operating as full-time estate vignerons, the partners manage 10 hectares under the Vignerons Indépendants charter. This cuvée highlights Pinot Noir from the Mâconnais, a region globally famous for white Chardonnay, showcasing the unique clay-limestone soils of the 'Aux Concises' parcel.

## Interesting facts

- Clos de Somméré represents a partnership between a 5th-generation Mâconnais farming family and two former Marseille micro-négociants.
- While the Mâconnais is famous for white Chardonnay, this cuvée highlights the region's rare and expressive Pinot Noir.
- The wine is aged entirely without oak in stainless steel to preserve the pure, unmasked minerality of the clay-limestone soils.

## Food pairing

This light-to-medium-bodied Pinot Noir thrives on its vibrant acidity and delicate tannins. It pairs beautifully with white meats, fatty fish like salmon, and earthy mushroom dishes. The absence of oak aging ensures that the bright red fruit and mineral core complement rather than clash with subtle spices, making it highly versatile, even extending to soy-braised Asian dishes.

## Wine making process

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand from the 'Aux Concises' parcel in La Roche-Vineuse. After strict sorting, the grapes are 100% destemmed. Vinification involves a brief pre-fermentation cold soak followed by a gentle 10-day maceration in tanks to extract delicate color and fine tannins without over-extraction. The wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks to preserve its pure, primary fruit identity, completely avoiding oak influence. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal intervention.
