## About this wine

Clos de Somméré represents a dynamic partnership in the Mâconnais village of La Roche-Vineuse. The Santé family has farmed these vineyards since 1848. In 2024, they officially partnered with cousins Régis Tuccinardi and Sylvain Grosshans, who left careers in finance to pursue hands-on viticulture. This collaboration prompted the rebranding of the historic 'Vignoble de Somméré' to 'Clos de Somméré'. The 'Au Champ Lière' cuvée is sourced from a single, southwest-facing parcel of 46-year-old vines in the heart of Prissé.

## Interesting facts

- The name 'Au Champ Lière' translates to 'The Ivy Field', referencing the wild ivy bordering this old-vine Chardonnay plot.
- Winemakers Régis and Sylvain left corporate finance careers to establish themselves as artisanal winemakers in Burgundy.
- This micro-cuvée is highly limited, historically yielding only around 1,200 bottles per vintage.

## Food pairing

This Saint-Véran balances rich texture from lees aging with vibrant limestone acidity. It pairs beautifully with rich seafood, poultry in creamy sauces, and regional French cheeses, where the wine's acidity cuts through the fat while its medium-plus body matches the weight of the food.

## Wine making process

The hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes undergo gentle pressing followed by complete malolactic fermentation to enhance texture and stability. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for 12 months in 600-liter French oak demi-muids. This careful oak integration and lees contact provide roundness and structural complexity while preserving the vibrant mineral core of the Saint-Véran terroir.
