## About this wine

Bodegas La Horra was founded in 2009 by famed Rioja producer Bodegas Roda in partnership with local viticulturists Pedro and Pablo Balbás. Situated in Burgos, Spain, the winery focuses on bush-trained Tempranillo vines averaging 25 to 30 years of age. Designed by National Architecture Award winner Carme Pinós, the eco-sustainable winery reflects a commitment to expressing the distinct terroir of Ribera del Duero. The 2022 vintage overcame severe summer heatwaves thanks to late September rains and old vine resilience.

## Interesting facts

## Food pairing

The structured tannins, vibrant freshness, and concentrated dark fruit of this Ribera del Duero red demand rich, savory proteins and earthy components. The fat and protein in roasted meats and aged cheeses bind with polished tannins, while wild mushrooms complement the wine's Mediterranean herbal complexity.

## Wine making process

100% organic viticulture with hand-harvested grapes in 16 kg crates undergoing strict manual sorting. Alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in stainless steel and large wooden vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak vats and barrels. The wine is aged for 14 months in oak barriques (80% French and 20% American). Clarification is completed using traditional egg whites before bottling.
