## About this wine

De Levende is a négociant project formed by Los Angeles natural wine importer The Soil Expedition Co. and winemaker Alex Pomerantz of Subject to Change Wine Co. Based in Northern California, the producer focuses on minimal-intervention winemaking, organic and biodynamic viticulture, and playful co-fermentations intended for immediate, effortless enjoyment. Cuvée Marty brings together organically farmed fruit from Redwood Valley in Mendocino County and select sites in Sonoma.

## Interesting facts

- This light red wine is a co-ferment of 60% Pinot Gris (a white/pink grape) and 40% Pinot Noir.
- It represents a collaborative project between a natural wine importer and a Northern California winemaker.
- With an alcohol level of just 10.7% ABV, it is specifically crafted to be served chilled.

## Food pairing

The electric acidity and low tannin structure of this light red co-ferment make it extremely versatile with food. The crisp acidity cuts cleanly through fatty meats, charcuterie, and melted cheeses, while the absence of heavy tannins prevents any metallic clash with cured products.

## Wine making process

Crafted as a light red co-ferment, the 2021 vintage blends 60% white Pinot Gris with 40% red Pinot Noir. The grapes undergo a short co-maceration followed by spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged entirely without oak contact to retain its bright fruit profile and natural electric acidity. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with zero added sulfur.
