## About this wine

Domaine Batard Langelier is a family estate founded in 1910 in Maisdon-sur-Sèvre in the heart of the Loire Valley. Third-generation winemaker Jérémie Batard took over in 2009 and transitioned the estate to certified organic viticulture and agroforestry. Focusing on terroir-driven wines based on distinct bedrock geology, he created 'C'est quand qu'on va où ?' as an innovative skin-contact cuvée to showcase the natural aromatic depth and fine phenolic structure of Melon de Bourgogne beyond traditional direct-press Muscadet.

## Interesting facts

- The name translates playfully to 'When are we going where?' exploring new horizons for Melon de Bourgogne.
- Melon de Bourgogne is almost exclusively used for white Muscadet, making skin-contact orange versions rare.
- Vines are grown on ancient gneiss bedrock surrounded by agroforestry planting initiatives.

## Food pairing

This vibrant skin-contact orange wine combines refreshing acidity with subtle phenolic texture. The mild tannins cut through oily fish, goat cheese, and cured meats, while the citrusy and herbal aromatics effortlessly complement lighter spice, tomatoes, and fresh herbs.

## Wine making process

Sourced from 40-year-old vines planted on gneiss bedrock with sandy loam topsoil. The 100% destemmed Melon de Bourgogne grapes undergo a 10-day skin-contact maceration with daily cap punch-downs during spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts. Aging takes place over 7 months on fine lees in traditional underground glass-lined cement tanks. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfur.
