## About this wine

Domaine Gramenon was established in 1978 in the Southern Rhône Valley near Montbrison-sur-Lez. Following the passing of founder Philippe Laurent in 1999, Michèle Aubéry-Laurent took full leadership of the estate, becoming one of France's celebrated pioneers of biodynamic and low-intervention viticulture. Today, Michèle manages the 26-hectare estate alongside her son, Maxime-François Laurent. Located at 350 meters elevation, Sierra du Sud represents the estate's dedicated tribute to pure Syrah cultivated on high-altitude plateau soils.

## Interesting facts

- Grown at 350 meters elevation, combining Mediterranean sun with cool mountain breezes.
- Gramenon is globally recognized as a benchmark icon of organic and natural winemaking.
- Cultivated on ancient sandstone molasse soils left by a prehistoric maritime coastline.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and fine tannins of this high-altitude Syrah cut through rich meats like lamb and duck, while natural herbal notes complement dark fruit sauces and garrigue seasonings.

## Wine making process

Farmed using certified biodynamic methods, the Syrah vines are manually harvested with careful vineyard sorting. The grapes undergo a 12 to 15-day maceration in raw concrete tanks using whole and partially destemmed clusters. Fermentation occurs spontaneously driven entirely by indigenous yeasts. The wine ages for 7 to 8 months in concrete tanks and neutral oak barrels before bottling post-Easter. Bottled completely unfined and unfiltered with minimal total sulfur additions.
