## About this wine

Domaine Philippe Tessier is located in Cheverny, between the Loire River and the massifs of Chambord and Sologne. Established by Roger Tessier in 1961, the domain was subsequently guided by Philippe Tessier, who became a prominent early practitioner of organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking in the region. In 2020, Simon Tessier and his wife Marie took over management of the 23-hectare family estate, preserving its commitment to living soils, natural methods, and authentic terroir expression.

## Interesting facts

- Cheverny AOC red wines distinctly blend Pinot Noir for elegance with Gamay for vibrant fresh fruit crunch.
- Domaine Philippe Tessier has maintained organic certification through Ecocert since the late 1990s.
- The estate is managed by third-generation winemaker Simon Tessier alongside his wife Marie.

## Food pairing

This light-to-medium-bodied red features vibrant acidity and soft, approachable tannins, making it exceptionally versatile with food. It cuts through fat in poultry, pork, and charcuterie while respecting delicate flavours without overpowering them.

## Wine making process

Grapes are manually harvested from organically farmed vines aged between 15 and 40 years, grown on siliceous-clay and sandy clay over limestone subsoils. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts and without commercial additions. The Gamay portion undergoes semi-carbonic maceration for approximately two weeks to capture fresh red fruit fruitiness. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel vats, concrete tanks, and neutral wooden casks, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfur dioxide.
