## About this wine

Domaine Famille Morin was founded in 1926 by Joséphine and Jean-Louis Morin in Javernand, situated on the steep, dramatic heights of Chiroubles in Beaujolais. Today, the estate is managed by the fourth and fifth generations of the family, who maintain a deep commitment to biodiversity and sustainable viticulture. This rare white Beaujolais-Villages is born from a daring decision to plant Chardonnay on high-altitude slopes traditionally reserved for red Gamay. The family's ecological philosophy is reflected in their certified organic farming and eco-friendly packaging, including lightweight bottles and recycled labels, embodying their motto to produce without destroying.

## Interesting facts

- Planted at 450m altitude in Chiroubles, a Cru famous almost exclusively for red Gamay, this Chardonnay is a daring anomaly.
- The wine is sourced from a microscopic single parcel of just 0.65 hectares on pink granite and silt soils.
- The estate uses eco-friendly lightweight bottles, saving 4,000 kg of glass annually to minimize their carbon footprint.

## Food pairing

The vibrant, high-altitude acidity and mineral-driven profile of this Chardonnay cut through the richness of seafood and poultry, while its round, barrel-aged texture complements soft cheeses and delicate fish without overpowering them.

## Wine making process

This low-intervention natural wine is sourced from a tiny 0.65-hectare single parcel planted on pink granite and silt soils at an elevation of 450 meters. The grapes are entirely hand-harvested at optimal maturity. In the cellar, the winemaking process is highly natural and precise, starting with a gentle, direct pressing at low pressure. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts, and the wine is crafted completely without added sulfites. To balance fresh minerality with texture, the wine is aged for the vintage using a split of 50% in old Burgundian oak barrels and 50% in concrete vats.
