## About this wine

Domaine Famille Morin was established in 1926 in Chiroubles in the heart of Beaujolais. Today, the estate is managed by fourth and fifth generation winemakers Erik, Pauline, and Théo Morin. The estate acquired a small 0.3-hectare parcel in Morgon in 2013 known as lieu-dit Terrains Rouge. Situated at 245 meters elevation with south-east exposure, these 50-year-old vines grow on a rare red schist soil rather than typical granite, imparting a distinct mineral character to this Cru Beaujolais.

## Interesting facts

- The Terrains Rouge parcel features rare red schist soil, an unusual geological formation in the Morgon appellation.
- Vinified using 100% whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration and indigenous yeasts without added sulfites during fermentation.
- Sourced from 50-year-old vines on a tiny 0.3-hectare single parcel acquired in 2013.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity, supple tannins, and bright red fruit profile of Gamay from Morgon make it remarkably food-friendly. It cuts through the richness of poultry, duck, and pork while complementing earthy flavors like mushrooms and cured meats without overpowering them.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested from 50-year-old vines, the Gamay grapes undergo a 100% whole-cluster, slow low-temperature semi-carbonic maceration for 12 days using native yeasts. The wine is vinified naturally without added sulfites during fermentation and aged in wooden foudres to preserve fruit purity while enhancing structural complexity before bottling.
