## About this wine

Famille Dutraive is a collaborative natural winemaking project established by the children of Jean-Louis Dutraive—Justin, Ophélie, and Lucas—following severe hailstorms in 2016 at Domaine de la Grand'Cour. Sourced from organic growers and family-owned plots, La Madone represents one of Fleurie's most famous lieu-dits. Named after the chapel overlooking the steep pink granite slopes, this micro-cuvée showcases the purity, florality, and mineral elegance of high-elevation Gamay.

## Interesting facts

- La Madone is named after the iconic chapel standing atop Fleurie's steep pink granite outcrop.
- The Famille Dutraive label was created by Jean-Louis Dutraive's children after devastating 2016 hailstorms.
- Fermented 100% whole-cluster without any pump-overs or punching down to preserve delicate aromatics.
- Sourced from old Gamay vines ranging between 50 and 90+ years of age.

## Food pairing

This light-to-medium bodied Gamay with vibrant acidity and soft tannins pairs exceptionally well with lean meats, poultry, and earthy vegetarian dishes. Its bright red fruit and high acidity lift rich charcuterie and cheese without overpowering subtle culinary flavors.

## Wine making process

Adhering to strict low-intervention principles, the grapes undergo 100% whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration with native yeasts. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures without pump-overs or punching down over two to four weeks. The wine matures for six to seven months in neutral vessels, including stainless steel, demi-muids, and foudres, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
