## About this wine

Founded in 2019 by Daniel Vogelwaid and Michael Donabaum, Weingut von der Vogelwaide works steep, restored terraced vineyards across the Wachau region. The producer intentionally avoids traditional Vinea Wachau classifications to retain creative winemaking freedom. The cuvée name Frau Welt references a medieval allegorical figure representing worldly allure and pleasure, inspired by Middle High German poetry.

## Interesting facts

- The winemakers started the estate by putting up posters asking locals for neglected terraced vineyards.
- The name Frau Welt refers to a medieval allegorical figure representing worldly allure and temptation.
- The winery eschews traditional Wachau classifications like Federspiel or Smaragd for total artistic freedom.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity cuts cleanly through rich meats like pork belly and fried Schnitzel, while the creamy texture from oak maturation and lees contact perfectly matches creamy mushroom dishes and aged alpine cheeses.

## Wine making process

Grapes are hand-harvested from steep terraced plots planted on primary rock, paragneiss, and schist soils. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation using 100% native yeasts with no commercial additions. Approximately 70% of the blend matures in small, neutral oak barrels with extended lees contact, creating natural texture before being bottled unfiltered with low sulfur additions.
