## About this wine

Weingut Schödl is operated by three siblings—Mathias, Viktoria, and Leonhard Schödl—in Loidesthal within Austria's Weinviertel region. The cuvée name Frühstückswein translates to breakfast wine, created as a playful nod to an easy-drinking, unpretentious table wine. Practicing certified biodynamic farming with sheep grazing in the vineyards, the estate crafts expressive low-intervention wines rooted in chalky loess soils.

## Interesting facts

- The name Frühstückswein translates to breakfast wine as a tongue-in-cheek reference to its light, refreshing style.
- The Schödl family keeps a small flock of sheep in their biodynamic vineyards for natural weed mowing and soil fertility.
- Its amber-orange hue comes entirely from 10 days of skin contact on aromatic Muskateller grapes.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and subtle skin-contact grip cut through fatty charcuterie, fried textures, and creamy cheeses while matching tangy mustard and citrus flavors.

## Wine making process

Approximately 20% of the blend, consisting of Muskateller, undergoes 10 days of skin maceration to extract color and gentle structure. The remaining Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, and Weißburgunder are direct-pressed. Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts takes place in stainless steel tanks and neutral oak casks. Aged 7 months on full lees, it is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
