## About this wine

Cantina Visconti is a boutique family-run estate located in the prestigious Montalcino region of Tuscany. 'Geltrude' is named in honor of a family matriarch, representing the estate's commitment to traditional Tuscan winemaking blended with modern expression. This Toscana IGT showcases the unique terroir of Montalcino's surrounding hills, where maritime influences meet clay-limestone soils, producing a red blend of remarkable character, elegance, and regional typicity.

## Interesting facts

- Named after Geltrude, a beloved matriarch of the Visconti family, symbolizing heritage and strength.
- Crafted in Montalcino, the legendary home of Brunello, but released as an IGT to allow creative blending.
- The estate practices sustainable viticulture, hand-harvesting every bunch to ensure pristine fruit quality.

## Food pairing

The high acidity and robust tannins of this Tuscan red cut beautifully through rich proteins and fats, while the wine's red fruit and herbal notes complement earthy flavors like mushrooms, rosemary, and game.

## Wine making process

The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness from select hillside parcels. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with skin contact for 15 to 20 days to extract color, structure, and fine tannins. The wine is then aged in a combination of traditional Slavonian oak casks and French oak barriques for approximately 12 months, followed by refinement in the bottle before release.
