## About this wine

The Gémina Chardonnay is a 100% Chardonnay white wine from Bodegas BSI, produced under the D.O.P. Jumilla appellation in Murcia, Spain. The Gémina line is named after the ancient Roman designation for Jumilla, reflecting a connection to the region's history. Bodegas BSI, established in 1934, is a prominent winery in Jumilla, recognized for its dedication to the Monastrell grape, environmental stewardship, innovation, and social engagement. The Gémina wines are considered the winery's top tier. This particular Chardonnay is cultivated in cool, high-altitude vineyard sites, a factor that influences its aromatic complexity and acidity. The winemaking process involves fermentation in barrels, contributing to the wine's structure and character.

## Food pairing

## Wine making process

The Gémina Chardonnay is produced from 100% Chardonnay grapes cultivated in high-altitude, cool vineyard sites within the D.O.P. Jumilla region. The vines are often ungrafted and over 30 years old, yielding less than one kilogram of fruit per vine. Vinification involves fermentation in fine-grained French oak barrels at low temperatures (16-18°C). Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging in new American and French oak barrels within a controlled environment known as 'Sala Gémina'. Bodegas BSI's winemaking approach is guided by a philosophy of environmental respect, innovation, and a commitment to showcasing the terroir of Jumilla.
