## About this wine

Maison Gustave Lorentz has been family-owned for seven generations since its founding in 1836. Based in the historic village of Bergheim in Haut-Rhin, the estate oversees vineyards situated on heavy clay and limestone slopes. Gustave Lorentz transitioned all 85 acres of its estate vineyards to certified organic viticulture in 2012, demonstrating a commitment to environmentally conscious farming. The winery focuses on a food-friendly Alsatian style that reflects the specific microclimate and soil conditions of the Vosges foothills.

## Food pairing

The slight natural residual sweetness and rich textural weight of Gewurztraminer counter balance fiery spices in Thai and Indian dishes, while its bold structure perfectly complements pungent washed-rind cheeses like Alsatian Munster.

## Wine making process

Grapes are harvested by hand from organic vineyard plots around Bergheim. Whole grape clusters undergo gentle pneumatic pressing followed by cold static settling for 12 to 24 hours to clarify the juice. Fermentation takes place under strict temperature control in stainless steel vats using both indigenous and selected yeasts. The wine undergoes two rackings to separate coarse lees and rests in stainless steel for approximately five months before bottling, preserving varietal purity without oak influence.
