## About this wine

The DeLoach Vineyards Green Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 is a 100% Pinot Noir from the Green Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. The Green Valley AVA is recognized for its cool climate, influenced by coastal fog, which fosters a longer growing season and concentrated fruit flavors. DeLoach Vineyards, established in 1975, was acquired by the French Boisset family in 2003, who brought their extensive experience in sustainable winemaking. This wine is a blend from several vineyards within the Green Valley AVA, including Ferguson, Giberti, and Swicegood vineyards, with the Swicegood vineyard noted for its clay and calcareous soils similar to those found in Burgundy. The region's mineral-rich soils are a key factor in the wine's distinctiveness.

## Interesting facts

- Green Valley soils are rich with minerals from an ancient seabed.
- DeLoach Vineyards employs sustainable and eco-friendly farming.
- Some vineyards are Demeter certified Biodynamic®.
- The wine is a blend from multiple Green Valley vineyards.

## Food pairing

The wine's medium-plus body and moderate tannins can stand up to richer proteins like duck and lamb, while its bright acidity cuts through the richness of creamy dishes. The fruit-forward notes in the wine can complement fruit-based sauces and chutneys, and herbal elements in the wine can echo those used in seasoning poultry and game.

## Wine making process

The DeLoach Vineyards Green Valley Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 is crafted using traditional Burgundian techniques. The grapes are typically destemmed and undergo native fermentation in open-top vats, with hand punchdowns used to manage the fermentation. Fermentation occurs in small tanks. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, with approximately 18% of the barrels being new oak. DeLoach Vineyards is committed to sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices, with some of their vineyards being Demeter certified Biodynamic® and organic.
