## About this wine

Guidalberto is a Toscana IGT red wine from Tenuta San Guido, produced in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany. It is a blend primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, created by Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta to offer a Super Tuscan wine with a more approachable character and earlier drinking window compared to the estate's flagship Sassicaia. The wine is named in honor of Guidalberto della Gherardesca, an ancestor and significant figure in the region's agricultural history. The vineyards are situated on slopes with diverse soil compositions, including limestone, rock, and clay, at altitudes between 100 and 300 meters.

## Interesting facts

- Named after an ancestor, a pioneer of Bolgheri agriculture.
- Considered the 'little brother' to the iconic Sassicaia.
- Blend allows for earlier enjoyment than its famous sibling.

## Food pairing

The wine's firm tannins and medium-full body are well-suited to complement the richness of red meats and game. Its balanced acidity cuts through fatty components, while fruit notes can echo or contrast with savory elements in dishes.

## Wine making process

Guidalberto is produced through manual harvesting, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (26-31°C) with maceration periods ranging from 10-18 days depending on the grape variety. Malolactic fermentation is conducted in stainless steel. The wine then ages for a minimum of 15 months in barriques, with approximately 40% being new oak, utilizing both French and American wood. The aim is to craft a wine that reflects the estate's terroir with a balanced and refined profile.
