## About this wine

Weingut P.J. Kühn in the Rheingau is managed by twelfth-generation winemakers Peter Bernhard and Viktoria Kühn. The Hallgarten Jungfer site is a prestigious VDP.GROSSE LAGE vineyard named in the 12th century by Cistercian monks in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Characterized by quartzite and slate soils, this vineyard is famed for producing expressive Rieslings with remarkable longevity and mineral backbone.

## Interesting facts

- The vineyard name Jungfer was bestowed in the 12th century by Cistercian monks from Kloster Eberbach.
- Quartzite soils retain daytime heat and warm the vine roots throughout the night.
- Aged for 16 months on full lees in custom Stockinger oak casks dedicated strictly to this single parcel.

## Food pairing

The striking acidity and saline mineral depth of dry Riesling cut through rich seafood and buttery sauces while highlighting citrus elements and fresh goat cheese.

## Wine making process

Grapes are hand-harvested with rigorous cluster selection and subject to gentle whole-cluster pressing. Fermentation occurs spontaneously using ambient wild yeasts. The wine matures on full lees for approximately 16 months in neutral Stockinger wooden casks dedicated specifically to the Jungfer site to preserve pure vineyard expression. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
