## About this wine

Il Bruciato is produced at Tenuta Guado al Tasso, the historic Antinori family estate located in the Bolgheri amphitheater along Tuscan coastal Maremma. First created in 2002 during a notoriously challenging harvest year, this wine was crafted to showcase the unique maritime climate and alluvial soils of Bolgheri in a modern, accessible, and expressive format. The Antinori family brings over 26 generations of Italian winemaking history to this classic Bordeaux-style blend.

## Interesting facts

- The name Il Bruciato translates to 'the burned' in honor of a historic early 20th-century forest fire on the estate grounds.
- First created during the difficult 2002 vintage to offer an accessible representation of the Bolgheri terroir.
- Produced at Tenuta Guado al Tasso, an estate stretching over 1,000 hectares in Tuscany's coastal Maremma.

## Food pairing

The structured tannins, vibrant acidity, and rich fruit profile of this Super Tuscan red demand hearty meats, rich sauces, and savory umbrella flavors that balance the wine's intensity.

## Wine making process

Grape varieties are harvested individually at peak ripeness, starting with Merlot in early September and concluding with Cabernet Sauvignon in October. Fermentation and maceration occur in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks over 10 to 20 days. Merlot and Syrah are fermented at cooler temperatures to preserve fruit vibrancy. After malolactic fermentation completes, the Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with the other varieties and aged in French oak barriques for 6 to 8 months prior to bottling.
