## About this wine

AreWine was founded in 2019 in Areni village, Armenia, by Knarik Petrosyan, an Armenian sociologist turned vigneronne, and her husband, French winemaker Guilhem Achermann. Operating from their family cellar, the boutique estate produces low-intervention natural wines that celebrate Vayots Dzor's 6,000-year winemaking heritage. High-altitude bushvines planted at 1,000 to 1,200 meters elevation in clay-limestone and volcanic soils grow alongside fruit orchards in a vibrant polyculture ecosystem.

## Interesting facts

- The winery operates out of a family garage and cellar in Areni village, producing only about 6,000 bottles annually across all cuvées.
- Vineyards are farmed naturally using plant teas made from wild nettle, mint, and horsetail instead of synthetic chemicals.
- Vines are interplanted with peach and apricot trees on high-altitude volcanic mountain slopes to foster natural pest control and biodiversity.

## Food pairing

The bright acidity, low tannins, and juicy red fruit character of this carbonic Areni make it extremely versatile. It cuts through soft fats and pairs effortlessly with roasted poultry, earthy mushrooms, and delicate herbs without overpowering lighter dishes or clashing with high-acid components.

## Wine making process

Crafted with a focus on pure fruit expression, the grapes undergo 100% spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts in stainless steel vats. Winemaking relies heavily on carbonic maceration and short skin contact to keep tannins gentle. The wine receives no added sulfites, undergoes no fining or filtration, and ages entirely in stainless steel before bottling in micro-batches.
