## About this wine

The Loimer Kamptal Riesling 2021 is a dry white wine from the Kamptal DAC in Lower Austria. Weingut Loimer, under Fred Loimer's leadership, is dedicated to biodynamic viticulture, aiming to produce wines that authentically reflect their origin. The Kamptal region is known for its mineral-rich wines, and this Riesling benefits from the diverse soil types and favorable climate of the area. The 2021 vintage was characterized by balanced weather, contributing to the wine's finesse and elegance.

## Interesting facts

- Farming is biodynamic with Respekt certification.
- Vines range from 15 to 55 years old.
- Soils are a complex mix: gneiss, clay, loess, sand, slate.
- Fermented with both stainless steel and used oak.

## Food pairing

The wine's bright acidity cuts through the richness of seafood and creamy sauces, while its minerality complements the subtle sweetness of shellfish. Citrus elements in the wine echo citrus in dishes, and its medium body can stand up to moderately flavorful preparations.

## Wine making process

The Loimer Kamptal Riesling 2021 is produced from biodynamically farmed grapes. Following a 12-24 hour maceration, fermentation is spontaneous, with 50% of the must fermented in stainless steel tanks and the remaining 50% in used oak barrels over 4-6 weeks. The wine then ages for 11 months on full lees in oak barrels, followed by 8 months on fine lees. Bottling is done unfiltered.
