## About this wine

Kelley Fox Wines is a boutique Oregon winery founded in 2007 by winemaker Kelley Fox. After abandoning a PhD program in biochemistry, Kelley learned her craft under legendary Oregon winemaking pioneers. Her approach is deeply spiritual and hands-off, focusing on reflecting the unique energy of her vineyard sites. Sourced from the historic Weber Vineyard in the Dundee Hills, this wine comes from Block 5, which features self-rooted Pommard clone vines planted in 1983. The vineyard is situated in a protective geographical bowl, surrounded by ancient Oregon oak and maple trees, creating a cool microclimate that preserves the grapes' natural acidity and delicate aromatics.

## Interesting facts

- Sourced from Block 5 of Weber Vineyard, featuring rare self-rooted Pommard clone Pinot Noir vines planted in 1983.
- Winemaker Kelley Fox abandoned a PhD program in biochemistry to pursue her passion for transparent, low-intervention winemaking.
- The vineyard block is uniquely guarded by ancient Oregon oak and maple trees, giving it a fairy-tale-like setting.

## Food pairing

This delicate, high-acid Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with dishes that mirror its earthy undertones and bright red fruit. The wine's vibrant acidity cuts through the richness of fatty fish like salmon and duck, while its fine tannins do not overwhelm delicate game birds. Earthy components like wild mushrooms and truffles harmonize perfectly with the wine's forest-floor complexity.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process for this Pinot Noir is highly transparent and low-intervention. The grapes were hand-harvested in late September 2021 and fermented using 30% whole clusters to add structural complexity and spicy notes. Fermentation was carried out with native yeasts in small, open-top fermenters. The wine was then aged in 100% neutral French oak Burgundy barrels (228-liter) to preserve the pure fruit expression of the Jory volcanic soils without any oak influence. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered on June 23, 2022, with minimal sulfur additions.
