## About this wine

Judith Beck's 'Koreaa' is a vibrant, skin-contact field blend (Gemischter Satz) sourced from the single vineyard 'Koreaa' located on the Goldberg in Gols, Burgenland. Judith Beck took over her family estate in 2001 and converted it entirely to biodynamic viticulture in 2007. This wine represents a return to traditional Austrian field blends, where multiple grape varieties are grown, harvested, and fermented together, capturing the true, unmanipulated terroir of the Neusiedlersee region.

## Interesting facts

- The vineyard name 'Koreaa' is a historical colloquialism from the 1950s, referencing its remote location far from the village.
- It is a true field blend (Gemischter Satz), meaning all grape varieties are grown, harvested, and fermented together.
- Judith Beck is a leading figure in Austria's natural wine movement and a member of the prestigious Respekt Biodyn group.

## Food pairing

The skin-contact texture, vibrant acidity, and aromatic complexity of this orange wine make it incredibly versatile. It cuts through rich, fatty meats like pork belly while beautifully complementing exotic spices, ginger, and umami-rich Asian dishes.

## Wine making process

The grapes are hand-harvested together from the Koreaa vineyard. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine undergoes skin contact (maceration) for about 5 to 10 days in stainless steel tanks to extract color, texture, and complex aromatics without heavy extraction. It is aged on its fine lees in large, neutral oak casks (fuder) and bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur added.
