## About this wine

The Krone Kaaimansgat Blanc de Blancs 2016 is a vintage Méthode Cap Classique from Twee Jonge Gezellen Estate. It originates from the single-vineyard Kaaimansgat, located at 700 meters above sea level in the Elandskloof ward of the Overberg region. This wine is notable for being South Africa's first single-vineyard, terroir-specific MCC, drawing inspiration from the grower Champagne movement. The estate itself has a long history, dating back to the 18th century, and is recognized for its innovative winemaking practices. The 2016 vintage was characterized by challenging climatic conditions, with heat and drought, but the high-altitude vineyard provided a protective microclimate for the Chardonnay grapes.

## Wine making process

The Krone Kaaimansgat Blanc de Blancs 2016 is produced using the Méthode Cap Classique. Grapes are whole-bunch pressed immediately upon arrival at the cellar, with only the free-run juice being used. Fermentation takes place with natural, wild yeasts in large 2,500-liter foudres. Following primary fermentation, the wine undergoes bottle fermentation and is aged for 36 months on its lees in the estate's underground cellar. The harvest was conducted at night to maintain cool temperatures and preserve acidity.
