## About this wine

Kumusha Wines was founded in 2017 by Zimbabwean sommelier Tinashe Nyamudoka, former Head Sommelier at Cape Town's acclaimed restaurant The Test Kitchen. The word Kumusha translates to 'your home' or 'your origin' in Shona. Sourced from mountain valley vineyards in the Slanghoek ward of the Western Cape, this wine celebrates authentic South African terroir through sustainable viticulture and thoughtful craft.

## Interesting facts

- Kumusha translates to 'your home' or 'your roots' in the Zimbabwean Shona language.
- Founder Tinashe Nyamudoka was featured in the acclaimed blind tasting documentary Blind Ambition.
- Combines 30-day oak cask maceration for Cabernet with whole-bunch concrete tank fermentation for Cinsault.

## Food pairing

The ripe dark fruit, fine tannins, and natural acidity of this Cabernet blend pair seamlessly with rich proteins and savory dishes. Structural acidity cuts through the fat of braised meats, while earthy undertones complement mushroom and aged cheese profiles.

## Wine making process

Grapes are handpicked during early morning hours and sustainably farmed under Integrated Production of Wine guidelines. Winemaking relies on spontaneous fermentation with minimal intervention. The Cinsault component undergoes whole-bunch fermentation in concrete tanks before pressing, while the Cabernet Sauvignon ferments in open-top old French oak casks with an extended 30-day maceration. The wine is aged for 8 months in old French oak prior to blending and bottling.
