## About this wine

Crafted by Antony Tortul, founder of the renowned La Sorga micro-negociant project in Southern France, Louis Ferdinand is a skin-contact orange cuvée. Named as a tribute to French author Louis-Ferdinand Céline, the wine is sourced from isolated organic and biodynamic vineyards in L'Aude. Tortul personally seeks out old-vine plots with active soils, producing distinctive natural wines with cult appeal across Europe.

## Interesting facts

- Named in honor of French author Louis-Ferdinand Céline, writer of Journey to the End of the Night.
- Founder Antony Tortul is recognized as one of the pioneers of the international Brutal Movement in natural wine.
- Micro-batch production yields typically range between just 1,000 and 3,000 bottles per release.

## Food pairing

Skin-contact orange wines offer a combination of energetic acidity, rich tropical and citrus aromatics, and structural tannic grip. This structural balance cuts through fatty meats like duck and pork, pairs effortlessly with aromatic Asian spices, and provides a complementary bridge to rich aged cheeses.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested at low yields under 20 hL/ha, the grapes undergo natural skin-contact maceration and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is vinified without any chemical additions, fining, filtration, or added sulfur dioxide, aging in neutral vessels to preserve its raw phenolic structure and mineral clarity.
