## About this wine

La Traviesa Blanco is produced by natural wine pioneer Manuel 'Manolo' Valenzuela and his son Lorenzo of Bodega Barranco Oscuro. Located in the high-elevation Sierra de la Contraviesa within the Alpujarra region of Granada, Spain, the project was created as a collaboration with neighboring smallholder mountain farmers. The name 'La Traviesa' double-functions as a reference to its home mountain range and as a playful Spanish double entendre meaning 'the mischievous one', bypassing strict regional labelling rules for uncertified table wines.

## Interesting facts

- Sourced from vineyards at 1,300 meters altitude, among the highest in mainland Europe.
- Created specifically to preserve and revive rare indigenous Vigiriega vines in Granada.
- The name 'La Traviesa' translates to 'the mischievous one' in Spanish.

## Food pairing

The vibrant acidity and saline minerality of this high-altitude white wine cut effortlessly through rich oils in grilled seafood and balance the tangy profile of fresh goat cheese.

## Wine making process

Crafted from 100% organically farmed Vigiriega vines grown at extreme altitudes of 1,200 to 1,300 meters above sea level. Grapes are manually harvested in small crates, destemmed, and direct pressed. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks. The wine is aged for 9 months split equally between stainless steel tanks and neutral oak vats. Bottled without fining, filtration, or added sulfur dioxide.
