## About this wine

La Vieille Ferme was established in 1970 by Jean-Pierre Perrin of the world-renowned Perrin family, proprietors of the legendary Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Created to make high-quality, honest everyday wines accessible to everyone, it was originally sold strictly by mail-order in France before becoming an overnight success in the United States. Sourced from the peaceful, high-altitude vineyards of the Luberon National Park in the Southern Rhône Valley, this wine represents the ultimate expression of affordable French winemaking tradition.

## Interesting facts

- Affectionately nicknamed 'the chicken wine' due to the iconic roosters and chickens featured on its label.
- During the extreme heatwaves of June 2019, growers sprayed the vine canopy with chamomile herbal infusions to alleviate water stress.
- Originally sold strictly by mail-order in France before becoming an overnight success in the United States.

## Food pairing

This fresh, dry white wine pairs beautifully with light-to-medium intensity dishes. Its crisp acidity cuts through the richness of soft cheeses and roasted poultry, while its delicate floral and citrus notes complement fresh seafood and Mediterranean vegetable dishes without overpowering them.

## Wine making process

The winemaking process for this vintage focuses on preserving fresh, vibrant primary fruit characteristics. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing followed by cold settling (débourbage) to clarify the must. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. To add subtle complexity and texture, approximately 90% of the blend is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel, while about 10% of the Grenache Blanc component is fermented and matured in new French oak barriques before final blending and bottling.
