## About this wine

Lábios Nus is produced by Quinta da Alagoa Velha, an estate founded by historian and philosopher Jacinto Palma Dias in Castro Marim, Eastern Algarve. The winery's ethos focuses on low-intervention viticulture and ancient regional winemaking traditions. The name Lábios Nus ('Naked Lips') pays tribute to an avant-garde 1970s Belgian magazine, reflecting a commitment to raw, unfiltered, and honest expression of terroir.

## Interesting facts

- Named after an avant-garde 1970s Belgian art magazine, symbolizing raw and unfiltered expression.
- Fermented and macerated on grape skins for at least six months inside 2,000-liter clay amphorae.
- Crafted from old bush vines overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Castro Marim.

## Food pairing

The wine's rich texture, structural phenolics, and vibrant acidity allow it to bridge the gap between white and red wine pairings, cutting through creamy, rich dishes while standing up to savory, umami-rich components.

## Wine making process

Hand-harvested grapes from old bush vines undergo spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The grapes undergo extended skin contact maceration for at least six months inside traditional 2,000-liter clay amphorae (ânforas de barro). The wine sees no oak aging and is bottled unfiltered with minimal added sulfites.
